Hi Bev & Chris, Sorry about what must be one of the shortest stays at the Americana. Came Thursday 5pm,back home 5pm Friday. Saw Dave (Redneck) looking in disbelief as I rolled out with the outfit as everybody else was rollin' in. Dunno what he thought! Thruth was, I was quite ok in the morning when I had a word with you in your dashing shirt watching Looney singing to you, half an hour later I took bad, sweating, shivering, head felt like bursting. An hour later I was no better and thought I may have caught the dreaded Swine Flu, so made the decision to drive home whilst I was still able. I felt really sorry for the wife and Jack, my grandson, who had been waiting all year to see all that the Americana had to offer. We have promised him he come again next year instead. I am feeling a lot better now,and a bit miffed at having missed the 2009 show. So put our names on 3 tickets for the 30th Anniversary.

What a weekend!! Anything that could go wrong and try to stop us getting there, or even staying there once we had arrived happened - but stay we did. And on Sunday it all came right - not too hot, not too windy. The right selection of bands and as someone who wouldn't have raved about Alvin - didn't he do well! The finale in the Betty Ford - splendid We generally liked the new layout - even if it was a last minute thrash to arrange. A bigger fairground would have given a bit more life to the display areas, and I presume the smaller number of stalls is the response to the downturn in spending - it usually happens that way. We need more commercials and militaries - I'll have another go at that The only downside - a minor item - but nevertheless important to those of us affected. What happened to the toilet flush in the far block nearest the air museum on Monday morning? The block had been superbly maintained all weekend - albeit with no hot water - but no flushing loos with hundreds still on site should not have happened. The warter taps were still working - had the tanks malfunctioned? So - a superb drive home - put in an hour or two in the office - and its raining! Oh well - 360 days to go!

Once again a top weekend. May I add a huge thankyou for the improved stage two area. This is a massive improvementfor us 'rockin' folk. It was nice to have an area that matched that of stage one in every way (except obviously in size)and what a massive success it was-filled with fans of all peruasions who enjoyed the cracking line up. The caravans were simply superb as always. I am really looking forward to 2010 and cannot wait to see what surprises you have in store for us(the web site is checked regularly!). More power to your elbows and congratulations in making this the most looked forward to, festival of the year.

Another one notched up and another cracker. Chris and Bev and yer family your brill !!!!! Good music - good company. thats americana. You re-invented it again with stage 2. You wanted some votes for best bands to bring back . Well my vote goes to the Revolutionaires. Those boys were great and held that audience till 1.30 in the morning. They get our vote please if possible put them on next year. Whats next a full size american drive-in. Now thats a thought any takers. If we all petition cineworld perhaps they can sponsor it and give it to chris for free, we can supply the cars. They can have the adverts and pay for the licence. One last thanks is to the security team cheers for keeping it safe. Go 2010

Hi ya'll we are still coming down from being gobsmacked (for want of a word, lol) at the FANTASTIC support you all gave us this year, especially our fellow american car, bike & bike friends.. In a particularly difficult and financially taxing year for everybody, you guys 'n' girls backed us to the hilt and saved us from possibly having to make big cuts in our budget next year.... As you all witnessed the birth of our new 'ALPHA' stage and setting it up in that main ring arena turned out to be a really good move... It is safer and gives you all the chance to sit down, chill out while listening to great live music. Well my dear friends there will be more of that next year, and THE REVOLUTIONAIRES will be back to help us celebrate our 30th year of bringing a good slice of the USA to the UK....Well over a thousand took advantage of paying their £10 per person deposits (we dropped it from £20 per person to help you) over the weekend, those of you who didn't can still get the booking forms direct from us, so email us at silvereagleuk@ntlworld.com and we'll email you a form... As with everything (no matter what it is or where it is) our prices will eventually have to go up, but we are only looking at the camping fees, which are a lot lower than most of the other events that allow camping/caravanning.. This will go up in January 2010. We will be posting regular updates on here so stay tuned to this site regularly.... some good things happening for you all at americana #30....Stay healthy & safe whatever you do....Chris & Bev x

Hi ya'll many thanks for the wonderful messages on hereand emails etc, if the calls are anything to go by we could see our biggest number of advance bookings ever..Your deposits help us to plan our show budget the more we get the bigger the budget so we can try to book the bigger names in rock'n'roll & country....I know a hell of a lot of you can't wait to see who is going to be on, some will have been on this years and several times over the last three decades (maybe if they are still together, lol) others will be new to the festival.... You can be rest assured that we will be booking some really great bands, friday night we have a very special 'back to the 70s glam-rock night' planned with three or four internationally famous bands from that era. The plan is to reserve an area at the bottom of the main arena to house as selection of american cars that represent popular tv shows from back then...Kojack, Starsky & Hutch, Cannon etc etc....It will make an interesting feature for everybody,, Country fans will get three of the best country bands available for their enjoyment....So our plans for 2010 are now well under way for you all....We are open to artists suggestions so fire away lets hear what you'd like next year........Chris & Bev

As we go into our 30th year we look back and see how much this festival has moved on from being a car show to the biggest american automobile & music event staged outside of the usa...and to see thousands of like minded people from babies, toddlers, teenagers to senior citizens enjoying themselves without too many problems spoiling their weekend is just unbelievable to say the least.. Cheers..CJ

This was our 2nd Americana and we did'nt think it could get better than 2008 but it did! The bands were fantastic, the atmosphere wonderful from the moment we got up, everybody friendly & absolutely no hind of any trouble. The security was fantastic and very friendly, if the world survives we will be there in 2010, just one very small comment, the toilet facilities were at the least desperate! Any chance of an Eagles tribute band, that would be fantastic at the big one! Take care Chris & Bev and ALL the staff, see you all in 2010. Love & regards, Reg & Brenda.

The Americana is one event we try never to miss, not just because the bands are great, it's good value and it's one of a kind but because the people that go are all so chilled and fun. Although we are all "rockin" the mix of county, Rock N Roll and a bit of Rock with a little "extra" thrown in is the perfect mix so if you can't have fun at the Americana then there's no hope for you! Our sincere thanks go to Chris, Bev and the full "team" for giving us such a great time every year. Angie, John and Shaz XXXX

I would just like to say this was our first time, and what a time we had. It was not what we expected, OMG I'm lost for words, it was more than just a show, had the best time ever...already booking for next year. It was awesome, amazing all the bands, the cars & bikes it had the lot I ached for days with all the walking round, still didn't get to see everything. Well done to all the organisers and everyone that took part and thanks for my very first memorable Americana

Once again The Americana has proved to be a top class event, that is still unfortunately ignored by the mainstream media. This year's show was awesome as ever, Slim Slip & the Sliders, Jack Rabbit Slim, The Hicksville Bombers and of course the astoundingly fantastic Imelda May...what more could anyone want? Nice job Chris, well done to you and your team!

Dear friends it is with much sadness that I write this post but having spoken to the wives of Kevin Walton (one-time NSVA organiser) and Gordon Jenner (former aaac-mid-west & bridgewater HOG) that I have to let you know that both these great guys have been taken from this world by the big 'C'.. Both fought heroic battles to beat it, but finally it took them from their families, friends and aquaintances... Having known them both for almost the duration of the Americana, gordon (and sue his lovely wife) was the guy who ran our auto judging section every year, then a few years back he took to harleys and promptly took charge of the now very popular 'cuistom bike show' that we feature in the huge george stephenson pavilion every year aide and abetted by a great guy 'barry dunnett'... Kevin died Thursday evening August 13th his funeral takes place this Friday at 2pm in westcott.. R.I.P Gordon died yesterday at 5:15pm August 17th..R.I.P sue is sending me the funeral information later today, I will post the full details of both gordon's & kevin's including post codes.... If you knew them please show your support if you possibly can by attending their funerals.....This has been okayed by their wives, Melody Walton & Sue Jenner...... In a mark of great respect for both gordon & kevin we will name two of our top awards after them from next year onwards. Sorry to be the bearer of bads news, losing three really good mates since the last americana (maverick was the first to leave us) has really brought it home to us (me in particular) that life really is too short to be falling out with each other...God bless you all and live everyday the best you possibly can......Chris & Bev

Here is a small taster of what we have already got line-up for you all for the 30th anniversary celebrations. Live entertainment on the thursday night for the rocking crowd and the country fans with at least four bands performing.... Friday we have two special shows lined up with a 'back to the 70s glam rock night' and the popular touring show 'Come On Everybody' and seven great country bands performing on the main stage band the 'betty ford clinic'.... The glam rock night will feature T-REXTASY and three other well known bands from that era to be confirmed, the superb PHIL HALEY & THE COMMENTS will be closing the new ALPHA stage in fine style......Lots more to come on the friday and wait until the saturday & sunday line-up is confirmed.....We are also hoping to add more attractions to the 50s style fair ground etc. Stay tuned for more great news soon....Keep on rocking...Chris & Bev

Many thanks Chis/Bev for another great festival,(my 10th)love it all, great mix of artists and music, you got it right.Just one sour note, please control the rock-a-billy guys n dolls from standing in front of the seated audiences, they can be pretty imtimidating, with their bottles n cans ,they seem to be oblivious to everyone else, you need more active security people on hand,I mention this on behalf of the elderly and disabled.Keep up the great work your whole family do,god bless ya all, keep it a-cummin`cheers.

Thanks for your constructive remarks, this is a problem that we used to have up at the main stage, but we have managed to dilute that by getting the seated folk to move closer to the stage. This then puts those that prefer to stand on the outer sides of the main arena. Now I noticed that the audience at the new stage were quite a way back from the front of the stage, this will allow the younger fans to stand infront of those that are seated.... The deck of that new stage is about 7-8ft higher so being able to see the bands even with somebody standing infront of the stage shouldn't be a problem. It is difficult for us to control where people should stand at the end of the day you all pay the same money to see & enjoy the festival. In all honesty I'd sooner have it so that the left hand side of the stage arenas is for those who want to sit there all day and the righ hand side for those who want to stand and show their enjoyment to the hardworking bands..... As you know we have been doing the festival for more years than most yet we still (and always will unfortunately) get problems with this situation... I and bev (and she has a very bad back) prefer to stand and move around, if I sat down for longer than an hour I'd probably fall asleep like a lot of the older folk do, lol. If you (or anyone) can come up with a remedy for this please please let me know, we want everybody to be happy and do not want folk falling out over something that can be sorted without resorting to threatening behaviour. Who we will not tolerate at all...I do not want to put a show of force in respect of our security team in front of either of the outdoor stages. We don't want to run the festival like the big pop festivals do as that would not go down well with us personally or the majoprity of our supporters...We've built it on friendship and want to keep it that way.......Cheers...Chris PS. For the last four years I've been wantin to put down dance floors in both the putdoor stage arenas, but if we did we would be liable if somebody fell over on them (and they would for sure) that'd mean we'd be in line for some folk thinking they could take us to the cleaners.....So sadly that is not going to happen unless we can get everybody to sign a waiver before they stand or dance on them...

I don't know how many of you out there read magazines (classic american, american v, maverick etc ) but we have had some great reviews so far. I think andy craig (asssitant-editor of classic american) summed it up in the first few lines of their excellent review in the september issue. " Often imitated, but never bettered" There's nowhere else quite like Europe's premier american lifestyle event. A truer message has never been written about Americana International, yet there are still many who have never been who often slag us off because they think we are ripping folk off.. That's a laugh for a start, there is no other event that offers so much for a reasonable fee and certainly nowhere that they can have the chance to see so many fantastic bands playing in one weekend, be it country, rockabilly, rock'n'roll, 60s/70s/80s live music and that's not counting all the other features we offer..So those of you who have been supporting us please tell these people excactly what they are missing.....Remember the bigger the attendance the better the following year's festival will be.......Keep rocking...CJ

Wassup Chris?? - you think we might miss your posts if you don't put them up a few times to get the point over - or have you got the DT's on your posting finger eh?? I hear and see things about Americana USA - what can you tell us about that please? Two Americanas in one year is a bit much - and do we have to take a eurobox over there???

In view of the large number of early bookings we have received for the 30th anniversary of Americana International for which we are truly thankful for... We have decided to keep all the fees the same until the end of January, then they will have to go up, we hope this helps you good folk out which was the reason why we dropped the deposit fee to £10 per person (half the usual amount we have required in the past)... Please remember we do not require your oustanding balances until June 15th at the latest... We are opening a 'paypal' account to help those of you who prefer to book on line, this should be up and running by the end of January....Online ticketing via www.WeGotTickets.com will also be up and running by the end of January.... If you want to book direct with us please print off one of the booking forms on this website and send a cheque payable to: American Promotions Ltd. The 1st day of March and hopefully we'll start to get some better weather. To all our fellow show organisers we wish you all GOOD LUCK with all your shows this season, last year was probably the toughest for us all with mostly lousy weather and a financial down-turn that physically wrecked many businesses, we too felt the strain which almost matched our financially disastrous '95 festival at donington park..But we managed to limp through and the signs are that this year could be the 'best ever' for us, thirty years of riding this mad roller-coaster called 'Americana' has taught us (and still is) a hell of a lot, but the main thing is that to survive you have to respect others and listen to good advice...We don't want or need anybody bad-mouthing us or our fellow promoters who do an honest job of providing people with a great weekend somewhere in this country. Be sure to support the ones that have a good track record and have built up their credibility rating, there are far too many wannabe promoters who think it is easy to organise a great weekend, well it is isn't, far too many innocent people have been hurt by this kind of mentality that wreaks havoc in the various leisure scenes. Finally one last point I'd like to make: Constructive criticism is always welcome and if it is feasible we will work on any points of our events that are not up to scratch. Wishing each and everyone of you a great show season....Chris & Bev

Remember there is a limit to how many exhibitors vehicles we can accept into the main inner section of the showground. So if you are not pre-booked and want to attend for the weekend, get booked in soon or face frustration by not being in with the majority of exhibitors. To book in as an exhibitor please print out an exhibitors booking form fill in all the relevant details requested and post it direct to us. Non-exhibitors can now book on line with our associate on-line facility via: www.wegottickets.com quoting Americana International on their search engine... Best get mesen booked in pronto! Apparently we are promised a long and very warm summer this year. Lets hope so. Another year of crap weather would see off some of the smaller car shows, lets not let this happen and show your support by attending them whatever the weather. We (cowbag cruisers) have had our cars up the axles in mud and had to be towed ON the showfield, never mind towed off, at various events these past couple of years. Yeah it sucks having to spend 2 days cleaning the car afterwards but its only a bit of muck. I will be shot down in flames for this but all you lot who won't bring your cars out because it might rain just consider this : If we all did that you would have nowhere to go, no support = no shows. Get out this year and cruise your fantastic cars, if you're just gonna leave it in the garage and polish it what is the point?

Not sure why visitors to this site are not leaving a simple message to let us know hey been on it... With between 500 - 1000 hits per day I would have thought there'd be more messages on here by now.. Is it because they are using facebook and myspace more these days? The thing is everything new visitors need to know about the festival is on here, so it just doesn't make sense why they can't be bothered to leave a short message.... We thrive on feedback....

We are trying to get a big tv screen hired so those who like football (bev & I don't personally) can watch the final on sunday afternoon. But it is something that was not in our budget so it all depends on the extra cost and providing security in whichever building we choose to put it in... Anyone who brings those stupid vuvus into the showground will have them confiscated, it is after all a music & auto festival and 99% of our supporters will not want to hear those irritating toys at anytime during the weekend. Our security have been told to take action against anybody who becomes a pain in the ass to others who have paid for a good fun weekend of great music and cool automobiles...

First time visitor Sat & Sun bringing reluctant student daughter who's "not in to Country, Mum" ... we're having a BALL!!! Everyone so friendly, the bands amazing & approachable - brilliant!!! £25 is the price per head of a meal out with drinks that's over in 2 hours - £25 pre-booked on line for an entire DAY of live music & brilliant company - that's reasonable once a year, about £4/month to save up for next year if a struggling single mum can do it, you can :)

Well, this was my first Americana. I came on my own (without wife and children) on Saturday, just for the day to see if it was any good. By 9.30 last night my wife and I had bought a family tent and will be there next year for the whole weekend!! An outstandingly organised event focused entirely on the things I am passionate about - American classic cars, live music, etc etc. I could go on but folks would get bored. One special mention for the living museum area - wonderful! Many thanks again and see you next year!

We were booked to play the Americana in the Lady Eastwood pavillion this year and even though i thoroughly enjoyed the festival itself i felt that the smaller stages hadnt been publicised at all.As we played for free (after a round trip of nearly 200 miles, without even expenses being met) and played in front of 25/30 people in a hanger that can hold a couple of thousand i came away disheartened and dissapointed in the lack of promotion. If your not going to push the smaller stages and acts then why bother putting them on at all ?

Although i go every year i do feel the prices are getting too high. Mainly if you go for just the Sunday. I took my car to show yet it cost me £20 as an exhibitor. I feel just to show your car its expensive. If your into all he bands and camping etc the the high price can be justified. Alot of shows for exhibitors are free or at a nominal fee ie Tatton Park, Menwith Hill, American Power on Wheels etc. I realise you offer a lot more but like i say £20 each just to attend on the Sunday is too high. Why the jump fom £15 in these hard times? I also feel the numbers were down on Sunday even though the weather was great. The fun fair very quiet and the stalls seemed quiet. Some even said how poor it had been for them too giving food away on Sunday as they had not sold anywhere near what they had hoped for. Have to say though apart from the price it is a unique event.

Fantastic event, there was definetely more camping from Thursday than ever before and a lot more staying over till the Monday morning. We had a blast all the way through the weekend, true value for money. Just for comparison my wife and daughter are going to see 1 band, price £120 for two tickets, Americana prices are well justified. Roll on 2011.

Another wonderful weekend. Really enjoyed it and I've got my booking form for next year already. Before the event I was a little concerned at the number of tribute acts/golden oldie pop acts on offer this year. There was no mention in the advertising or in the programme that there was a '70's theme this year, like your Lost in the '50's theme of a few years back. When it was announced from the stage I was like "obvious really. Should have figured it out myself". I'm going to take a guess here, but I reckon it wasn't heavily promoted because you didn't want to put people off, thinking it was just a nostalgia event. Am I right ? Not that there's anything wrong with a bit of nostalgia, and I guess the '70's are the new '50's. But dont!, please dont!, do an '80's theme anytime soon. A weekend of tinny synths, big hair, spandex and pastel jackets with rolled up sleeves would just about do my head in. (joke btw) Stars of the weekend for me ? Two Tons of Steel without a doubt. Those guys were smokin'. And I'm glad to see that, in the persons of Rosie Horne and Tim McKay there are youngsters coming through to carry the music forward. Roll on Americana. As George IV sang "may you stay, forever young". In mind if not in body.

This was my girlfriend and my first weekender for many a year so we were a bit unsure how it would be. We needn't have worried. Wow, what a fantastic weekend. From start to finish it was just spectacular so well done to all those involved. The bands (R'n'R)were just first class. Have to say I was also looking forward to T-rextasy and was not dissapointed. I was also looking forward to Darts and I have to say, WAS deeply disappointed, what a big let down, but the only negative over a truly amazing weekend. The stars for us were the Revolutionaires, absolutely incredible. Roll on 2011.

Many thanks for your kind remarks on here, those who are voicing their disappointment about the cost of admission really need to do some research on other comparable events. Then, and only then will they realise that there is no other event/festival/weekender that gives so much for your money as we do. We are american car enthusiasts first and foremost, I have personally owned and driven them for close on fifty years now. In all that time I have visited hundreds of shows and the reason the Americana was fist staged was to give everybody something different rather than just sitting a field with just cars to look at and nothing for the wives & families. Now we must be doing something right because here we are 30 years down the road and it still gets bigger and better, with a much bigger outlay every year... Now if you can find us a venue that doesn't cost us an arm and a leg to hire and one where we get some revenue from the bars, we'll certainly consider moving the event to it.I hope you get my gist of what I am saying? If not please don't waste my time by complaining the choice is yours if you want to attend or not... At the end of the day for everyone who whinges about the cost and threatens not to come, we'll get six more who will take your place...I think you are more then oytnumbered by those who know how much it costs us to stage and what good value it is when compared to most other events in this country... Nothing is for free, there is always a cost somewhere down the line....

This was my 2nd year and what a show. So much live music to choose from. The "settlement" that was behind our 5th wheel was brilliant, many thanks to the re-enactment societys for that. I was with a party of four and we have had such a good time we took advantage and have booked up for next year. We also recommended this to a friend, who camped for the weekend, and she has enjoyed it so much her and her partner are also booking for next year. And to finish the live music with Smokey ........ what more can I say, just sheer brilliance. Many, many thanks to Bev and Chris. Joy Mortiboys (Warwickshire)

Wow! The best Americana ever, don't know how you can top this. For us the variety on offer is second to none and the cost EXCEPTIONALLY LOW, look @ other festivals. For me with an OH who is a cougar nut having other things to do is priceless. He loves rockabilly and I love country so we are both happy. This to me is the essence of the show something for everyone. Can I say I have never heard Gail Davies in such good voice. It was her best performance in the UK for many a year. We don't camp on site (past that) but we stay locally and are on site 12 hrs + every day. and still feel part of it all. We also hire mob scooters which are invaluable. Many thanks to Mr Mrs Jackson and family. Long live the Americana we will go wherever 'it' goes.

Er! Bands played for 'free' ? Only one did that as far as I know and that was because of a problem with another band who proved to be unreliable..Next year will see a few changes to how I book the local type bands who don't bring any bread to the table some treat the festival as a cheap holiday which they get paid to attend and don't put much effort into their sets... £50 per hour is more than enough for those kind of bands, I wish we could earn that kind of money per hour, don't you? So only bands of a high merit will make the grade next year, I'm talking brit bands here....The top and most popluar ones will be the lucky ones who get picked for 2011... Please remember if you want to exhibit the following vehicles you should request an exhibitors pre-entryform than carries a big discount if booked before January 31st 2011... All american automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, rods & customs plus PRE-73 non-american vehicles (must be show quality to qualify for the discount). All custom cruiser motorcycles of the V-twin variety, no japanese sports bikes or gm badged vehicles etc (Daewoos/Kias etc). Any american trailer/caravan/5th wheel that is not pulled by an american vehicle does not qualify for the discount or getting into the main inner exhibitors areas. Once again there were too many non-american late model cars still inside the main inner sections, so that has now out the kybosh on us allowing non-american vehicles into this area to unload their camping gear. If you want to stop with your friends who are booked in as exhibitors then you will have to arrange to be collected by them at the main exhibitors entrance and leave your non-american vehicle in the secure trade/guest car park or camp on the outer camp sites..Please do not bother to ask if you can go into the main areas because you'll be wasting your time...You'll have to blame the ones who abused our system, they are the ones who have screwed it up for everybody else.

hi guys, fantastic show as always. need to do something about the cars that are being let in (non american) as already mentioned. when we was camping we ended up boxed in by 2x landrover discovery's a vauxhall astra and a 3 other non american vehicles. as already mentioned these need to be kept outside in the carpark. also people who tow there caravens in with there landrovers once there set up why do there cars need to stay with them? in my opinino if its not american get it on the car park. cant wait for next year. keep up the top work.

Enough said here to show the real feeling about cost, quality, emphasis etc - Chris and Bev - you've brought 'em up right - leave' em to it and sit back! You've earned it. The present mix is good - perhaps a bit of "autojumble" for car nuts who like ferkling about, at a rate that leaves both sides happy; as the stall side is depleting a bit, and some more fairground lights and music - but that's not to complain, just to seek out a bit more for the exhibitors etc. Where were the rolling lights shows? Is the £5.00+ gallon biting a bit? Glad to see the chinese lantern vendors and fliers will get the boot - we weren't noticed chasing around with fire extinguishers at the dead of night putting out these incendiary nuisances before someone died - but we were doing it! I hope that the Newark site owners can be prevailed upon to stop bleeding the Americana to death. They make big money out of it, and none at all would be a big blow to their cash flow - but equally we all know how to use, and live on, that well tried site! Perhaps a rent of a field next door and C J Bars could set up to teach 'em a lesson! What's the date next year Chris??? I might have all year to plan as I am likely to be out of the door at the end of October - tried and tested negotiator for hire if needed! ps Any Eagles - Mac etc tribute bands going at a sensible rate???

I am getting pretty peed off with the subject of non-american vehicles getting inside the inner camp-sites and taking up precious camping space. It seems our guys on the gate are getting a bit lax on this nagging problem and I am going to stop all those who are not authorised in writing by me, bev or letitia from driving into the showground on the pretext of unloading their tent/caravan etc. It just isn't going to happen in 2011. Anyone with an american vehicle/bike who wants their friends/families who attend in non-american vehicles will have to make the choice of either camping on the outer camp-sites with their friends or on the inside with all the other american car/bike exhibitors without them...As for the bands and traders of which their are many, we will introduce a different system for them.... As for american auto parts/accessory dealers and auto-jumblers we can't force them to bring their wares to the event, inspite of offering them amazing deals (like sponsoring a couple of awards which cost naff all compared to paying our plot fees, which incedentally are the same as most (if not less) comparable sized events. But still no takers, so what more can we do to get them to trade at the show? On the other-hand the large amount of car sales dealer who book into the event and more often than not flog their late model mustangs, corvettes, dodge ram pick ups etc Is taking the piss asthey are paying the same as other exhibitors, my brother allen (our trade manager) does wander around and if he finds a dealer who is displaying proper trade sales boards then that person is given a warning to take the dealer signs off the vehicle(s) or he will be charged the full trade price. This also applies to rv dealers who think its their right to bring a £50,000+ rv and sell it making a lot of profit without paying us a trade fee for doing so. All I can say to those who flaunt our simple rules, if I find you before allen does I will have you removed from the event, it is not fair on all those who pay their admission fees... One last word to all those who slag us off to all and sundry, Americana International does not need ass-holes like you and is perfectly capable of surviving for many more years without you.. The festival has been developed to go in any direction musically so if we start to slide down in any of the seven or eight areas we provide we can introduce a new one to compensate any downturn... This is what credibility means, we have built this up over the last thirty years and have fought and overcome all the battles that have come our way over those three decades... We are intent on moving forward with the festival in anyway we need to keep it exciting to all of our loyal supporters.....Enjoy the rest of this summer and stay safe whatever you do....

Guess that must have been us (Sidewinder) then cos we travelled from Leicester and gave our time for free.Played on the Lady Eastwood stage Saturday evening and had a blast.Sadly not many people there (and its such a big room) but the ones who where had a thoroughly good time,as did we.Great weekend. Thanks for having us.

In response to steve's post. let me tell you that I never booked you or ay of the other bands that were apparently told they could play on the unsigned stage. Somebody else was supposed to have been doing that but a distinct lack of communication between this person, my main man (loony chris) and myself. So neither of us knew who was going to play in the LEP...now we try hard to run a professional show and I'm sorry to say that just didn't work out.. So it won't happen again, besides our main gate staff need to know who is performing on the festival on all the stages/venues. I will re-instate the use of the Harley bar for a couple of soft rock bands on friday & saturday night to satisfy the small demand from some bikers. However I want to say that I feel that there are numerous bike shows/festivals that cater for the heavy rock fans and I do not want to copy them...I hope the minority who seem to like having your ears blasted out will understand this reasoning? What I don't get is that these type of bands can be seen almost everywhere any day of the week, yet when I book artistes I try to book those that are not seen that often and in my mind surely they are the ones that the majority want to see, or am I wrong in that assumption? I go to quite a few weekend shows and virtually everyone of them seem to have the same bands on and these club bands do the same boring assed sets they do in the clubs.. I don't want that at Americana International so those kind of bands will probably not get on the festival until they do something different for our audiences... We have a high standard and I am trying to keep it high which is why we have so many american artistes on every ywear, you probably won't see any of these doing the other shows I'm sure...

I have upped the quality and cut down on the quantity to give you folk better chance of seeing the majority of the artistes next year. We also will be doubling the size of the dance floor infront of the APLPHA stage...and some new stuff up on the main arena...

Totally agree with the none americana vehicle owners being outside... something that WILL be implemented on the main gate. IF the American vehicle owners want to camp with the none american vehicle owners then outside on the runway it is. Will always have the option to drive your american car into the venue once your all set up. It's a joke! We often try to please and then it gets abused. Can i have a play with the Harley Bar Papa Bear? Give me some practice! Thanks to all yet again for the support and our FAB team.. your the bestest! xxx

We were spoilt for choice as to which stage to go to as there was sooooo much to listen to and enjoy.I have been coming to Americana for many years ( maybe 8 - 9 years) and I always think it cannot get better , but it does! This years line-up was awesome, the 70's bands so FAB! We loved the music on all stages and the dancing in the Cedric Ford Pavilion; we learned to Jive - thanks Ian!!!!!! Roll on next year. See you all then. Stop moaning all you ungrateful whingers. If you have something constructive to contribute write to Chris and Bev privitely.

2010 was another great year for Americana. Thanks to Chris, Bev and family and the team who again made the event just as special as always. Every year we look forward to attending Americana for the great atmosphere and new and old friends we meet. And also the great bands. We send a big THANK YOU to all the Jackson's and crew for laying on such a special occasion for us to attend every year which we would not miss for the world. We look forward to 2011 and lets hope the weather is as kind to us as it was this year as we normally get very wet on the way up. (But that would never deter us from attending). Again thank you Bev and Chris from the Jones family (Essex). PS We also would like to congratulate Richard Lamb for the great photos and the excellent website.

Howdy friends, thanks for your kind comments we do appreciate each and everyone of you for supporting what we do. Our intentions were not motivated by making us millionaires(and we are most definitely not)what drives us on is our passion for the 'americana dream' and that means trying to produce an event that has more than anything else in this country at a very affordable price. Unlike a lot of promoters we have a hands on touch to the festival and we are always available to chat to anyone who wants to come over and speak to us.. We also have a large family and know only too well just how much it costs to take them all out for a day or on holiday, which is why we will NEVER charge for children under 16 years old or charge car parking fees... And for the benefit of those who run american vehicles we do too, so we know how much it costs to run them which is why we always offer a discount to those who bother to pre-book.

If you are attending Americana International #31 and want to save money you have until December 31st to get yourselve booked in. The fees have to go up to cover the rise in vat and other rising costs of being able to stage the festival. Booking forms for exhibitors and non-exhibitors are available on this website and ready to be printed out.. The on-line booking facility < www.wegottickets.com > goes live from the begining of January when we implement the higher fees. When compared to other similar sized events that incorporate 'live' music, automobiles and motorcycles our prices are still by far better value and the overall cost lower than the others. Please remember we do not charge for children aged fifteen and under as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. Nor do we charge extra for public car and coach parking....

Well here we are going into the third month of 2011 and the interest in this year's festival is as strong as ever. Once again the line-up of fifty plus artists is on par with last year's mega-fest, but features more legends from the USA & UK in a much wider variety of great live music. Sure we've had a few changes but that is not unknown in this business when trying to book the best artists nine months prior to the start of our weekend. Hopefully our webmaster will soon upload all the artists along with a clip from their songbooks and a link to each of the various websites, as in previous years.

This year we have a few new attractions confirmed, Evel Knievel was the original daredevil, who defied the odds, thrilled audiences and was an inspiration to millions of people the world over. Now, for the first time, Evel’s original motorcycles, famous jump leathers, personal memorabilia, and untold photos and stories are being exhibited on a world tour for everyone to see and marvel at the wonder of his death defying achievements. Teach your kids about good and Evel. With the throttle wide open Evel Knievel went head to head with danger and lived to tell about it. Despite failure, crashing and injury, he always rose to perform again. This unconventional attitude to do things that had never been done before is exactly what made him so famous. Evel Knievel is an inspiration to people – young and old – who recognize they want to be in control of their own destiny. People who want to go out and do great things. People who use drive, determination, personality and hard work to become their own legend. People inspired to become their own brand of “Generation Evel”. A Fashion show hosted by Skye Clothing. The Red Dragon Monster Truck Ride. The Ace Cafe will also be in attendance this year. Plus all our usual favourites and ideas pending! :0) Roll on July!

New additions include superb attractions like 'THE TRUE EVEL KNIEVEL' WORLD TOUR ROADSHOW EXHIBITION THE ACE CAFE THE RED DRAGON MONSTER TRUCK MORE FAIR GROUND RIDES & CHILDRENS AMUSEMENTS plus acres of gleaming american automobiles, trucks, hot rods, customs, harl;ey davidsons and victory motorcycles. THE INDOOR CUSTOM BIKE SHOW takes place on Saturday & Sunday. We also have a lot of new trade stands that will hopefully be welcomed by everybody, BROWNHILLS of NEWARK will be there with a lot of non-food supplies for those with campervans, cravans etc, hopefully they'll also have a supply of lpg on their stand. THere is so much more of interest that we have added and of course the majority of our regular traders will be on site. We have also added or replaced quite a few food vendors to make a better choice for everybody. More news will be posted on here shortly.

Good to see THE DUX last Sunday and to check out their hot chariots, those 300C's are mighty fine looking automobiles. Oh! Yes you guys will be re-united with your big yellow duck when you arrive at the showground, lol. I reckon Chrysler/Fiat should join us this year as pretty sure there is going to be a lot of these cars on the show field. I might even put mine out. But hoping to have my other baby there, it'll be its first time in seven years if I get it finished, lol.

Hi Alan, I am so sorry to read about your lovely mum & dad I remember them well and I know they were big fans of Americana International. Until I read this I was not aware that they had passed over to the other side. I send you our sincerest condolences on the loss of your mum and very belated wishes for your dad (stan). One of the downfalls of the festival is that unfortunately we know so many people from all over the UK and beyond. This means that we are sadly seeing and hearing of the deaths of a number of them as the years move on. However we are hearing of new babies being born to many of our friends too, so its a pretty even balance, living and dying is a fact of life and its something we all have to live with its how we handle it as individuals that counts. As long as we all have respect for others and are prepared to go that extra mile to help others in some small way that will make those less fortunate then ouselves feel part of our world. In our house there is no room for big egos and we have always treated everybody as equals and perhaps this has helped us develope our festival into an amazing family orientated weekend. Hope to see many of you in July if not before at some of the other excellent shows dotted around the country.

Well just three days from now and the county of of nottinghamshire will reverberate with the burble of american V8's and V-twins as throusands of enthusiasts of the American Dream cruise into the area to take part in the biggest, best and longest surviving American lifestyle festival possibly in the world. This is so much more than just a field with nice cars or motorcycles parked up and nothing else for the wives and children of the owners. On the contrary it is a festival built with families in mind and this has happened over night but has been steadily built up year by year since July 4th 1980. With almost sixty music slots for artists from the USA, UK and beyond covering seven decades of good time anglo-american music, it just cannot be compared to any other event/festival/weekender. Don't knock it until you've tried it, exhibitors get a discount if pre-booked so the onus is on them if they want to save money. Thousands have so follow them and do it or pay the extra, you will not see or hear what is on offer at this festival anywhere else outside of the USA.. Call 0870 863 2100 for pay on the gate details.

The Bluebird was sent for restoration in March 2008 - despite threatening the plonker ever since he goes at one speed - dead slow! He rang on Monday and asked if we knew a water pump repairer and then again today to ask - did we send it in with all the chrome letters on the hood spelling "thunderbird" I think the 2003 is coming again!- but if we can get the 64 on the road and out of his hands that will be one result See y' all tomorrow and keep that weather forecast set fair!

First visit to Americana. Friday was an absolute deluge but the Rock N Roll spirit survived and both artists and revellers continued to perform and enjoy the soggy atmosphere. Saturday was blistering heat and no sign of the forcast rain. The better day of the two but wish I had remained at the Alpha stage to enjoy the Rock N Roll rather than camping out in front of the Main Stage expecting a wee tadge more Rock N Roll/Rock A Billy from the likes of Art Adams and Jerry Lee's niece. All in all, great value for money and I hope that the original 50's artists continue to play Americana. Looking forward to 2012!

As we have done for the past 8 years we had a great time when we visited the show on Saturday, the sun was shining(thank God ), the display of bikes, trucks, and cars etc was amazing, and as always the music was fantastic, especially James Intveld, and of course good old Alvin giving his usual great Rockin performance. However we were disappointed with a couple of things this year which we would like to mention, Firstly, Why were there No T Shirts for the Festival this year, as there have been in previous years, surely an event of this size deserves a T shirt to commemorate such a great occasion. Secondly, apart from the fabulous music and vehicle displays, the thing that makes Americana far superior to any other show is the vast array of quality Trade stalls that are usually at the event. This year a lot of the stalls were missing, especially on the top field near the main stage, indeed parts of the trade area resembled a car boot sale. We spoke to a number of stall holders, and asked where all the other traders where, and they said that because of the rental costs that is why the traders were missing, and the traders we did speak to said that they might not be at the event next year if there is a further increase in renting a trade place. As we had just purchased an Harley and wanted a paint job doing on our bike we were particularly gutted that the airbrush artist who has been at the show for the past few years(we think his name is Brian) wasn't in his usual place this year. we did find out later from another trader that Brian's wife had been ill over the past twelve month's and that was the reason for him not being at the show. We are sure everyone at Americana joins us in sending get well wishes to his wife and hope he is back in his usual spot next year. And finally and most disappointing of all, why was the native american show not on this year, this was the first time our kids had been with us to Americana, and were really looking forward to seeing the Native Americans. We really do appreciate how much hard work goes into organising an event of this size, and in no way is any of the above a criticism of the show, just our observations, Americana is still the Biggest and Best value show of it's kind outside of the USA, let's hope it continues to be so. See You All Next Year !!!!!

hi folks, another year gone, i had a good time as i always do, but returned to my van early on the sunday as people next to us had some trouble with people checking out stuff and in genaral hanging around, one of them was even surrounded by a bunch of guys looking for trouble after he told them to move away. security did sort it but its the first year in 20 odd, i have ever heard of theft at the americana and the first time we have ever felt uneasy. the guy next to us getting the bother is in one of the bands, not good to see. sorry

these trouble makers seem to arrive at the show in the back of transit vans so they dont pay the entrance fee then walk around in groups eyeing up good to steal ect everyone has a right to be there as long as they pay for a wristband if thet dont have one sling them out

First timer @ Americana and a Fri/Sat visitor only. The Fri was a let down and numbers minimal due to work comittments etc and the Sat improved greatly with numbers and the weather. A greater investment in original 50's acts would be welcomed and tighter security to rid the Americana of the undesirables [travellers] who did not appear to be there for anything other than to drink and cause trouble. This aside, I will be booking my place for next year and add this to the Rock N Roll/Rockabilly circuit of annual gigs.

Been coming to Americana for years and always have a great time, sadly this year was spoiled by the drunken idiots (gypsies) who had no respect for anyone, and seemed just intent on causing trouble,as pensioners it's not something we need at our time of life.there has always been members of the travelling community at Americana each year, but not the kind of thugs we saw this year. After saying that , god willing we will be back next year, but if security is not improved it will be the last time.

its not american, its not irish. well, its just pikey ! nothing we can do about the weather friday then the sun came out, and so did si cranstoun and his band, they were great! lack of thunderbox toilets around the alpha stage so people were forced to walk through the gang of travellers to the toilets inside, which was a bit intimidating. (lots of them didnt even have wrist bands on) ??? more toilets, less undesirables would have been better. see you next year.

just back from americana and despite being a good show this year was dissappointing.the weather ok you cant order that but hey where were all the traders?well down on numbers this year.i know it was their first time but the parking of the RV,s was terrible and in some places unsafe, bring back the marshalls.but the worst part for us was the gypsies.at one point we had about 30 behind our RV,very scary and intimidateing.they werent there for the american lifestyle but just to get drunk and cause trouble.after spending £170.00 for the weekend to see many of them without wristbands was very annoying.we didnt go out of our RV on the saturday night for fear of having stuff stolen.our 15yr old son was looking forward to cruising on our harley trike on sat.night but i was not going to prarade it in front of those hooligans.i hope chris and bev that these problems are rectifyed and that americana continues to be the great lifestyle show it is. 2012

I have been going to the americana for over 20 yrs & have never seen any trouble there, we are always warned that trouble makers will not be tolerated, so why did a huge group of people get away with not having wristbands & causing trouble? As exhibitors we get a small discount considering our vehicles make up part of the show, so it is very annoying that this yr loads of day visitors got in free. There was a huge list of do's and don't's to follow for those of us that always go, yet there seemed to be a lot less security than normal and certain people seemed to get away with doing whatever they wanted. A disappointing show this year, complete change of atmosphere, I have never worried about my stuff back at the camp, but these groups of tea leaf's were able to roam where they wanted. I think day visitors should not be allowed around campsites in future. Disappointed that the zero tolerance approach wasn't enforced!

Another good Americana weekend. Not a 'classic' year, but still good. I'd have liked a little more country content but have to say: Two tons, James Intveld, Dennis Locorriere and Modern Earl were brilliant. I too, noticed more RVs and fewer trade stalls. Maybe the two were connected. I didn't actually see any of the trouble-causers myself, being at stage 1 most of Saturday, but there are security men on each gate and they're all in touch via walkie-talkies, so the question has to be - How did they get in? They couldn't have been let in, could they? I'll still be back next year.

Just back from a great touring holiday part of which was spent at Americana. As usual we had a fantastic time, despite the odd shower!! Always one of our favourite festivals, we love the mix of music - Country and Rock and Roll, keeps it more diverse. Just one small suggestion - how about completely new bands for next year? It seems apparent to us that certain bands (in some shape or form) play at the festival every year. Apart from people getting tired of seeing the same faces on stage, it's not really fair to other 'up and coming' bands who would love to be performing at Americana. We also can't help thinking that certain acts are being given preferential treatment, ie the main stage, because of who they are related to, rather than talent or popularity. However, don't want to turn this message into one big criticism, it really is a fantastic festival and long may it continue.

Well well well, i have been attending the Americana for the past 18 years now and enjoyed every minute of every show. I was really looking forward to this years show, but after a few hours of walking around the showground we noticed that there were idiot low-lives rubbing there hands all over peoples cars, we saw a youth bending back a car emblem and wing mirrors. My Granddad challenged the guy who bent back someones hood emblem on a classic Cadillac he just ignored him and walked away on returning to our car we found the hood emblem was moved and loose and also a badge was damaged, the atmosphere was not as good as in other years! i have always been happy to leave my car unattended at previous shows but but not this year! next year we may go for one day only?

I too am disgusted with what was allowed to happen and a serious re-think on our long serving security group is now on the cards. I can understand the contsternation of those of you who have posted on here, but those who have been coming for years will know that this is the first (and will be the last) time this happens. We pay out a hell of a lot of money to the security group and I amd my daughter feel very let down by them. As for the lack of traders I can tell you in all honesty that letitia worked hard on that part of the festival and infact added seventeen more compared to last year. But on saying that eleven of them failed to turn up and pay their balances, so they forfeited their deposits and unless they can furnish us with a good enough reason as to why they weren't there. They will not be accepted for 2012, we do have a limit of 120 trade stands 15 amusements and associated side-shows. Anymore would be encroaching on the dispaly areas for those beautiful classic cars & bikes etc. So far I have booked & confirmed six exceptional American artists plus two hugely popular brit artists. I will release their names in the next few weeks and I'd lke to direct you to our other site at www.facebook.com/americanapromotions which we can update at the drop of a hat, something we can't do with this one. Lots of very important changes are in the pipeline for 2012 which will make it less hectic for those who arrive early on the Thursday thuis causing huge traffic jams all around newark, of course those of you who don't come until the saturday miss all of this. By the way positive criticism is welcome but not blatant slagging us off it is not easy to run this festival and each year we have to face more problems and higher rental fees etc. Also please remember we do not have any financial backers and its us who take the risk every year but we don't whinge and moan when we lose money (which happens more than us actually making it) we just get on with it. This is my personal passion and I will not be put down by wilful slagging off. Assuring you all of our good intentions for the future..

had a fantastic time this year. It was our first time for all 3 days and despite the weather or maybe because of it, had a great time. highlights for us were stolling with umbrellas on friday night, si cranston and alvin on sat and soaking wet watching kingcats on sunday. Roll on next year and if your thinking of coming along please do everybody is so friendly and relaxed.

Hi Chris, Bev, Letitia and all I'm not a Facebook follower - so this is my medium of response. This was our 16th Americana so we are mere beginners. We saw no trouble - we had a damned good time - and we know who to thank for it - The Jackson clan - good on you - and all your helpers - especially Loony Chris and Indian Paul - don't let anyone slag you, or them, off! I'm so sorry to hear of forged wristbands or people with no wristbands at all getting in. The Americana has a substantial perimeter which must need quite some surveillance, but if watchpoints have to be the answer to keep us in and "them" out, then so be it! For those of us nipping out to get beer, take photos of passing steam trains etc - would a dated bar code sticker for windscreens be an answer - so we don't clog the gates on our return, but you keep control of who is driving in and out? I understand the trade stand dilemna - people on a site for up to four days need something to draw their attention and trade stands do that. Perhaps a re-balance between outright revenue and what a particular stand brings to the Americana might be one road to go down. Some of the food stalls were demanding sit down meal prices for their styrene trays - we did sit down when it rained - at the OK Diner rather than pay those prices. Was there a conscious decision not to do a 2011 Tshirt? I am in no way a C & W man, quite like the Rockabilly style but by far prefer the celtic rock or tribute band type of performer who could stay within the Americana budget and theme, but at the same time widen its appeal. Time moves on and things do need to change sometimes. You all know we want the Americana to go on and improve - the only way is to look at alternatives and think them through - if they are none starters - then OK - but if they can make for a better or more easily managed show - then perhaps worth a thought. CJ & Bev - take it easy guys - you've earned it!

Have thought long and hard before posting these comments. I have only missed 4 Americanas in 20 years. This was awful in terms of security , toilets , stalls, food prices, travellers/gypsies who obviously had not paid , how?? .I had an incident with a security bloke on sat afternoon , he was not stood where he should at an intersection and as we turned to go down in our AMERICAN car, he screamed at us and ran over , so I stopped and he leaned straight in the car and onto the car and told us to turn around , so I asked him nicely 3 TIMES! to not lean on the car , he then told me he could get us ''fu+kin thrown out'', I backed up and drove off to a tirade of abuse... After we parked the car I left my o/h in the car and went to the toilet , on my return two gypsy lads were trying to get into the car and swearing and laughing ! I went and told the security at the main gate....waste of time! they were two busy dribbling over 3 scantily clad gypsy girls! I was told to ''move on mate!'' The showfield should not have had a bloody great monster truck chucking dust up all over the cars. Where were all the people on the sunday , we set up on the showfield , and a group of us owners about 12 of us , could not believe how few people were even looking at the cars?, I do know 2 people who decided after travelling 50 plus miles to not pay to get in as what they had been told was the price was not when they arrived. Bands and which you like is a purely personal thing , some bands we really enjoyed, again , the only downer the gypsy kids chucking drink and bottles around at one point. The shame of the bad atmos caused by these scum is that a fair few regulars went home on the saturday , some very good friends of ours did not feel safe at all.I have seen some quite harsh responses on fb by Chris to what can only be honest and constructive critiscism, we all know you work long and hard at this show, but you CHOOSE to do it! You also say in no uncertain terms on your advertisinbg that it is better than any other show of this theme. Well, not this year it was'nt , sorry , but praise where praise is due and you can blame the crap security , you can blame stallholders not turning up ...SOMEONE decided to let loads of travellers/gypsies in... someone thought the monster truck was in the right place, someone thought what the stalls were charging for food was ok, someone employed the awful security, someone , thinks that putting the price up next year is a good idea. I wish you well with next years event , as you say youve been doing it all these years .....

Just been reading through comments, phew! I was a first-time visitor to Americana on Sat/Sun so I cant compare it to previous years but if you employ people with a reputation for criminality as security what do you expect? Apat from that, I enjoyed it. Never have I seen so many big american gas-guzzler cars in one place. I took so many photos you wouldn't believe. Some good music too. Although the only name I had heard of prior to coming was Alvin Stardust and the rock n roll bands all started to sound a bit 'samey' after a while. One thing I was surprised at is the camping charge. I fully expected to be charged for camping but it seems unfair that a tent is charged the same rate as a massive RV. My suggestion for next year is: tents = £10 per weekend. caravans = £30. RVs up to 20 feet long = £50. Rvs over 20 feet long = £80. What do you think?

Thanks for your messages.. I have made notes.. all feedback is welcomed but no need to be malicious. If you want to seriously put your feedback forward as we do feel it is valuable to the future of the festival, please email me jacksonevents@hotmail.com I would particularly like to hear from Vic and Kaye so i can sort our staff issue out...I manage the rotas for the team, Under no circumstances do we condone rudeness. So this will be dealt with. A few other areas in your message I would like to address to.. so please do email me. Thanks in advance. For the rest of you who supplied feedback, thanks V much! And for those who had a brill time with no qualms, see you in 2012! It is hard work putting the event on, papa bear eat, sleeps and drinks it! Seeing the smiles and the laughing makes it all worth while. Where a small hand full choose to slag it off we know the majority enjoy themselves. We will continue to try new things... its all trial and error. As for the security the HA have been with us for almost 20years and to only really get the issue with the travellers this year is silly to dispute the support we have had from them. All the best and kind regards to you all. Letitia :0)

Oh, just wanted to add, food vendors decide their prices... you can make the festival as cheap as you like... Morrisons is just up the road. You can take your own beer and food onto site (except in the bars at the showground have the licence for these) :0)

I am not making any comments on the few rather offish posts on here, but as I said in my original answer to these: 2012 will be much better policed with a very very good professional security company on board who will work alongside some of our original security guys. However I cannot help thinking that some people just want the opportunity to try to slag off the festival because they want to. Those that posted good constructive criticism for which I thank you for and we will be making efforts to use some of your ideas next year. As for the odd few who complaiened aboit the kind of music I book, well it is well advertised (as are the admission prices) so nobody can honestly say they didn't know who was performing on the festival or how much it costs. If they can't be bothered to visit this site or our facebook site or read our full page adverts or lastly couldn't pick uop the phone and ask for more information, well I'm sorry it's your problem not ours. Also you need to know that I am everything the festival represents and probably more so than most other people. This is our interpretation of what we see as the best tribute to the USA and even the numerous American & canadian visitors tell us this, so no amount of slagging off by these few people will ever stop us from presenting Americana International every year no matter where we stage it.

I have so far booked the awesome CONFEDERATE RAILROAD as one of our biggest headliners to date when it comes to real country music rockin' or otherwise. Along with country legend GENE WATSON and rockabilly legends like RAY CAMPI with top blues guitarist KEVIN FENNELL, the brilliant HAYDEN THOMPSON is also making his second visit tu us in four years. TWO TONS OF STEEL SI CRANSTOUN MODERN EARL EVE SELIS LISA O'KANE. Some of these are performing twice during the weekend a grand finish to the weekend is in the pipeline of which details will be released in due course. The pre-booked admission fees are staying the same as this year, however a small raise in the camping fee will be brought in from the begining of February 2012.

every year since we have traded we have done americana and will continue to do so in the future. We are always in the rockabilly end and will continue to serve there as long as the Jackson family carryon providing an event . The miracle that this family achieve by bringing together hot rodders, country and american car people all in one showground, no one else has ever achieved , so before you winge and moan you try doing it yourself. Looking forward to next year, thankyou to the Jackson family.

To all of those people who have commented on the show, and have nothing good to say, I ask you one question – Have you ever organised an event on such a large scale as Americana? I haven’t, but I have arranged many events with friends that haven’t go as well as the Americana. The team put in so much hard work, ALL YEAR not just on the weekend of the show. There will always be something you like, something you don’t, but please if you must voice your opinion – which I agree with, but just think what you’re saying and would you like it said to you in that manner when you have just spent a year putting it all together? We all have feelings, and some of you have been very hurtful, I appreciate you are upset and angry at the gypsies spoiling the show, but as Chris says, he has, and will do everything in his power to stop them. So next year let’s enjoy the show, not let them ruin our show. I give Chris and his team a celebrity well done to all, keep up the excellent work. Love Shaz & Den

Well thanks for those last two posts it is only a small minority who seem to want to pull us down at the slightest opportunity, maybe they are driven by sheer jealousy of how successful and popular the festival has become over the last thirty plus years. But it has only got this way because we have an undenying passion to bring together thousands of like-minded people who on the whole have respect for their fellow human beings. These people seem to forget that in the thirty years prior to this last one we have never had a problem with travellers or the like, the police have always commended us on running the festival and as do the licensing council. So why write derogatory posts on here, what kicks do they get out of it? Our traders (new & regulars) will be more than happy to know that we are reverting back to our former show layout as in up to 2008. This will put the public etc back in your areas so no more wondering where they all are, the same goes for our food vendors (which incidentally is sold out for 2012 already). Stay tuned to this section to read many more interesting posts from me and letitia over the coming months.

Well here are just a few high class artistes from the USA & UK who will be performing on Americana International 2012. CONFEDERATE RAILROAD GENE WATSON THE BLASTERS TWO TONS OF STEEL EVE SELIS RAY CAMPI KEVIN FENNELL HAYDEN THOMPSON SI CRANSTOUN THE POLECATS MARY JEAN LEWIS & THE STARLIGHT BOYS JOHN MILLER & HIS BAND BUCHANAN BRIAN HUGHES & THE LONE SHARKS THE ACCELERATORS UNION AVENUE THE FABULOUS TEDDYS GERRY RICHARDS & THE EVENING SHADOWS GLENN DARREN & THE KREWCATS more to be confirmed shortly. Fifty two artistes filling fifty-six slots during the weekend from great country music right through vintage rock'n'roll, 60s & 70s and bang up to date with new young artistes showcasing their own songs, it doesn't get any better than this when mixed with the biggest varieties of american cars, trucks, customs, hot rods, military and huge recreational vehicles. Lots of new stuff is being put into place for 2012 to make your visit even more enjoyable. Apart from a small rise in the camping fees coming into operation on the 1st February 2012 our advance admission fees will remain the same as this year's. So if you want to save money (and don't we all?) get your £10 per person deposits off before the camping fee goes up. The booking forms are available off here now, they are on the 'Next Event' section.

CJ I understand your hand has been forced by complaints from local residents - local??? - about noise from the rock n roll stage! What were they doing - standing outside with super sensitive mikes in their hands to prove that the show could be heard above the noise of the A1 and A46? Does this mean the loss of the dedicated spectator area as that was a special part of the show? - as with the old "side stage" the audience were in part of the vehicle areas - or is the audience area going to be on the ash area where the monster truck was this year from the main gate towards a stage more in line with the Eastwood pavilion, so that any conflict with the car areas doesn't happen, and the stage faces away from the nimbys?? I know there is no easy answer - just trying to think things through

After a very good meeting with the big boss of the showground we can happily tell you that the APLPA stage is remaining where it has been for the last three years. Plus selected associated traders will also be given the option to be in that rock'n'roll arena. As I said earlier for the benefit of the thoughtless moaners who posted those few derogatory posts on here. Our security is being stepped up and we have instructed them to remove any trouble makers from the venue immediately. We are not standing for anything that is going to put people off attending the festival and will be doing our best to make sure this is adhered to by all of our staff, security and our visitors.

Hiya DUXS have you seen the new Classic American mag yet? The front cover shows an awesome 300C Touring that is hemi-powered, super-charged, nitous and chipped! I think the guy who owns it ain't bothered about mpg cause that gorgeous peice of mopar can't do many miles to the gallon. I'm happy with my 160mph V6 turboed intercooled 3 litre super chipped wagon that gets me (depending on how I drive it of course, lol) between 38-48mpg all day long. That is affordable and very enjoyable motoring as I'm sure you guys will agree to.. Catch up with you soon..

Well the first five reviews are now in from a wide variety of magazines and all are very positive and complimentary about Americana International #31. With the festival usually being written about in around thirty-two such publications from all over the UK, Europe, USA and other countries plus radio reviews it all helps to make us more determined to make next year's better than ever. The festival is for fans of the American Dream and that does not mean just cars or the music it means the whole spirit of the USA in how it used to be years ago. The interest in 2012 is as good as ever and we anticipate it will be as good as any we've staged before, we proved the differing weather didn't cause us much of a problem. Next year we will have two of the biggest indoor venues operating for the music and various other attractions,so it'll truly become an all weather festival. ...More in due course..CJ

Hi just to say, we(12) of us had a great time at Americana.I remember seeing the large crowd of individuals and didnt know of any of the trouble until I read this forum today. It really saddens me as the whole show is superb(CARS,BIKES,LORRIES).I brought my parents with me (in their 70's) and they loved the whole event as did the rest of our group.I am sure the security will be stepped up for next year and once again zero tollerence will be the sites watchwords!!This event is superb there is nothing to touch it and if you dont like it then you dont have to pay to go in.I know it isnt easy to get these bands as they are either retired dead or too busy.I would love someone like David cassidy,David essex,Bay city rollers,Slade,Shakin stevens,Rubettes or someone of that ilk to make my mum happy on the saturday or sunday,so she has something to look forward to,as well as two tons which she just loved!!!See you in 2012 good luck with the huge organising of this event. We are all coming back!!
