| We have just finished watching 'Quill's new dvd 'Live At Americana International 2006'. Its a great dvd, the quality and sound is brilliant considering this was filmed in the huge Lady Eastwood Pavilion (basically a huge tin roofed cattle shed). If you've never experienced a saturday night with 'Quill' at the festival, you just don't know what your missing... | how many other shows like v fest , Glastonbury etc do you see the top bands play and then mingle with the public afterwards and enjoy the rest of the show. i bet not many, they are just there for the cash, they do their thing and then leave for home, not at Americana a great atmosphere where you can literally rub shoulders with the stars. the jackson family have been putting on a great show for many years and if you have never been to Americana then you have been missing a really great event, as was said earlier its a shame its only on for one weekend a year, i would love to do a similar show but i have been there and done that organising a large classic car show, the amount of hard work that goes into organising and promoting an event that last just a few days is unbelievable and not many people could manage the stress of putting on an event, as soon as one year is over its start all over again for the next, the amount of money the jacksons must pay out each year before the event must even scare their bank manager, so when the weather has been as bad as this year i bet they were really c***pp**g themselves, so for any one that wants to knock the Jackson family why not offer to help them out next year and get a small taster of whats involved. | well said del boy,i really enjoy being part of the americana crew,it gives me huge satisfaction in july of every year to have been part of the greatest motor show the east midlands has to offer,if not the uk.it really pisses me off when people knock chris and bev,theyre saints in my eyes,where else could you get such good value for money,alright people moan at the price of the beer but thats not bev or chris;s area,theyll moan about anything,even if the event was free youd still get some miserable barstool whod moan,all i say is fxcx off go find a place to sit at another event,only trouble is there aint another event the americana is the event. i challenge anyone to tell me or show me otherwise.long live the americana. |

| We saw Status Quo at the brilliant 'bulldog bash' they were AWESOME almost two hours on stage and they rocked the massive crowd... They might be knocking on a bit now, but they can still show the young guns how it should be done, without any stage theatricals to boost their image.... And it it takes a long time to get back on track, you have to be strong for each other, bev & I went through a similar tragedy in '84 when we lost our baby daughter (victoria)..... There is not a day goes by when we don't think of her, but time is a great healer of pain and misery.....and emmersing yourselves in getting on with your lives is the best remedy for a getting through the darker times. You have a lot of 'real' friends who care, so when things get tough let them know, a good chat on the phone or face to face always works wonders for anybody that has suffered a broken heart etc...CJ |

| I am now up and running again, albeit I've not managed to claw back many of my email addresses, so those of you who have sent emails to me in the past can you please send me one so I can update my address book.. Most of the other files have now been recovered or modified so I am back at the key-board setting up next year's festival, and what an event that's going to be with no less than ELEVEN legends from the world of 'live' entertainment....Plus a few 'new' to the festival bands, some young (and pretty, lol), some who have been around the various circuits and only two tribute bands.. The FANTASTIC rock band'LIMEHOUSE LIZZY' featuring WAYNE ELLIS will be closing Stage Two on sunday. Prior to their closing set, we have the brilliant ROBERT GORDON & CHRIS SPEDDING (motorbikin' etc), what a tremendous way to close stage two (our anything goes stage, lol). To find out who else is now confirmed for 2008 please check the 'next event' page and visit the 'Jacksonville-Americana' site. As usual the bike awards will be presented on Saturday afternoon and the auto awards early Sunday afternoon.. Main stage closes Sunday night with THE DARTS, that is going to be an equally fantastic end to the 28th Americana International. If anyone can show us a better value for money weekend of great cars, motorcycles, customs, hot rods & over forty great acts performing rock'n'roll, country and just about every other style of music, we'll pack up and do something else.... | We have had more bands than ever contact us because they want to be on next year's festival, unfortunately there are only so many hours in day and consequently we can't fit them all in. Basically we are working on the reserve list from the last three years, some have been on that list for four years, maybe five...and we are happy that we have such a diverse choice... Many of those that have not been successful for 2008 will go onto the main list for 2009 (July 9-10-11-12th).....Our 29th Americana, WOW! who'd have thought we'd still be running it this long, certainly not us.... I have now had a look through the full 92 minute long proposed dvd from the 2007 festival, its is e4xtremely interesting and features lots of the various aspects of the festival, lots of cars, bikes, people, interviews and live music, albeit short clips from some of the artists..not all of them....It does give a very informative look at what the festival represents 'a tribute to the usa' I personally think its the best over-view that has ever been done. It was not cheap to have all those camera-men and professionals filming and then long tedious task of editting the four days of footage that they did. The outcome is of broadcast quality and it is hoped that it may get snapped up by some television companies around the globe. Hopefully 'alchemy' will have it all finalised in time for xmas, stay tuned to this site (and the 'jacksonville-americana' site) for news of its availability very soon......CJ & BJ |

| Thanks Richard (our intrepid webmaster)for doing such a fantastic job updating this website, I know how time consuming it is to do this job and credit where it's due, we are proud to have you as a leading member of our team... Now all I gotta do is get you into a pt cruiser or something else that's american and affordable to run.. The interest in next year's festival is building steadily with it being talked about all over the globe, especially the usa... We have been inundated with phonecalls, letters & emails from our american cousins (many of them artists) all echoing the same thoughts, WHAT A BRILLIANT LINE-UP we have next year..I doubt if there has ever been such a line-up staged in the uk that includes so many 'legends' from rock'n'roll, country & rock music and with such a wide variation in the music.... What is amazing too, is the number of american cars, customs & hot rods that have booked in todate, especially with the cost of petrol hitting a pound a litre (approx $8 - $9 per gallon). It seems that nothing is going to stop them attending Americana International which is, I have to say, very heart-warming for us. I only hope that the other shows get lots of support as well next summer. Just a word of thanks to everybody who has posted messages on this guest book, its nice to know some people are dropping in from time to time, it makes it all worthwhile for richard at the end of the day. Having been to the last 'hemsby rock'n'roll weekender' I would like to encourage a few more of our friends & supporters to try this great weekender. | Hi. Chris! 2008, marks the 100th anniversary of the Oshawa Plant building Buick Automobiles or should I say McLaughlin-Buick. How's about getting the 1936 King Edward VII Buick Limo at the '08 show plus as many Canadian Buick's from the 1930's era plus any other American Buick's. I note that the King's Buick is up for sale in England on December the 11th. Would be nice to get the new owner to show the car @ Americana in 2008. Could get alot of publicity in Canada on this one. | Billy don't go saying things like that! Just get your ass over here and let's see what can be done to the 'green wagon' all is not lost.. Springing things like that on me, is not good for the ticker (lol), we can sort it out, if not I'll make damn sure you've got a decent motor to haul you lot & the caravan to newark in july.. If you are desperate to use a vehicle, you can always use my 'grand voyager' it sits here for days on end until we need to carry a big load, otherwise we are always in the 300C... The 'grand voyager' has a towbar & dual electrics now, so no problem towing your caravan... I will be selling it to our jason next year, but not until october. might have to take his '97 Voyager in part chop (its on gas as well), so that might be in your price range, its a damn good mpv, jay just needs that extra length (don't we all, LOL)to carry lots stuff that a family man has to take with him when he takes the family out....CJ |

We have just paid up for a trip to NYC and Fort Lauderdale on the QE2 just after New Year, and are completing the trip with a coupleof days in New Orleans and then overnight to Chicago on the "City of New Orleans" of Arlo Guthrie fame - think the Americana Tshirts will have to come out - especially for the hour stop in Memphis at tne o clock at night. | Hey frank, good to read your post on here (and the jacksonville site), yes the cd full of pics you kindly sent me has about blown me away, I love those old 'iron horses' and the yanks certainly knew a thing or two about steam trains that's for sure...But its not only the trains, its the cars and areas you two visited that make it such a great cd. I intend to use it as a slide-show on the other site, I actually have it as my wallpaper on this pc, it amazes visitors when they see all those fabulous pics... You and margaret look like you were really enjoying yourselves. Bev & I will have to try one of those fabulous cruises with you one day they sure look good to us... | Thanks 'dusty boots' I'll pass that post on to rip masters, who has just released one of the best 'country' related cd's I've heard for a long time. Titled 'Back To The Honk Tonk' it is very modern but with a definite 'classic country honky tonk feel' and in no way careers off a hell-bent 'pop' country direction. No! This mostly self penned 16 track cd should be in everybody's collection, rip has a large following on the UK/Euro rockabilly/rock/n'roll scene, because he can 'rock' with the best of them. He is a very good friend of most of the 'legendary' rockabilly artists (many are on this year's festival) especially 'ray campi & kevin fennell' all who are highly capable of turning in a good selection of 'classic country songs' in their repetoires... However rip's latest is a rung or two above anything that has come my way for a very long time, bev & I wish him 'good luck' with it. We'll certainly be doing our bit to promote it for him this year. Whilst on the subject of cd's I must mention two more that I think should be in your collections, when they become generally available, Ray Campi & Rosie Flores duet cd' A Little Bit Of Heartache' is superb and shows off both of these great artist's diversity in rockabilly/country. Then the brilliant Robert Gordon & Chris Spedding's latest release together 'Its Now Or Never' is their own personal tribute to 'elvis' done in their own style, which sincerely makes it a cut above all the other so called 'tribute to the 'king' releases...All of the artists(american) that are performing on this year's festival will be singing & selling their cd's & pics etc after each ot their sets. Remember 'Americana International really does 'ROCK' and only books the acts that can last more than a few years......Roll on July....CJ |

| That landie tow truck will come in handy for those silly people who flaunt our simple but sensible laws whilst on the showground.. A huge guy like tony & that tow truck shouldn't have much trouble getting things moving along, or those idiot burn out boys being escorted off the premises if they don't tow the line.... I like paul leegan's tribute to lonnie and will have them back on in the near future, like a lot of other excellent bands that I'd like to re-book, but with now well over 400 acts to choose from every year it gets very taxing to say the least to sort out a much varied line-up to try to please the majority of our visitors.. I once told the several thousand strong audience in the lady eastwood pavilion that I wouldn't be booking 'quill' the following year..That certainly didn't go down very well at all and I nearly got lynched for saying that, and it was only a joke..That is what you call a really popular live festival band, who appeals to virtually everybody irrespective of their musical tastes. We have to balance it out when booking acts, we need those that will pull in enouigh of their fans to cover the cost of having them play for us. Sadly quite a few bands don't pull enough to warrant us booking them, so unless I think they have really got something going for them, then they just aren't going to be on the festival at leasat not at the fees they want... If I could earn £50 -£100 per hour for standing on a stage singing or playing a instrument, I'd be much better off than I am now, and that's the whole truth and nothing but the truth, m'lud...LOL. Seriously though its easy money if people really think about, we give the bands & their spouses a free weekend plus pay them more per hour than bev & I earn, so now that's going to stop.. We'll pay good money for bands that will promote their apperance on the festival and bring in the crowds. |

| We did try for shaky a couple of year's back' but thev fee was too darn high, so we let it go... Paul Jones performed with THE MANFREDS on americana about three or four years back, they were AWESOME. So its great to have them back again for some more of the great songs that they took to the top of the charts as well as some of their newer stuff... The band also features MIKE D'ABO who was lead vocalist when they hit the top slot with 'THE MIGHTY QUINN' and several others.. Also with the DARTS closing the sunday with all their big hits and more I'm sure everybody will have a great weekend, after all where the hell can you see so many GREAT artists from the usa, uk & europe in one place? Plus more american cars, bikes, trucks, rv's etc, etc than most people will ever see in their lifetime.... Sure we know their are a few who'll disagree with that but we don't have to prove nothing to them, after all with us coming up to 28 years and still growing, need I say more? |

| I am pleased to tell you (at last) that the dvd from 2007 is going on sale next month, its an epic dvd that last almost 2 hours.. The production company have done a fine job in getting most aspects of the festival over to the viewers, one thing there is lots of car stuff on it, plus action from the main stage etc...Not sure of the price yet, its going to be the best we've ever had done that's for sure... I will put an advert on here once they've finalised the cover & price etc.....Stay tuned its going to be a dvd that most folks will want to see.... The film company have told me that they are going to produce a double dvd for this year's to cover all of the other stages and activities throughout the weekend.. |

If we lived nearer I'd do it for you, if I had a lighter coloured car all mine are black, except the MKVIII lincoln, which is not suitable as its a two door coupe and it is too low to get in and out of gracefully, lol. | Testing 1 2 3 anyone hear me (lol)....Bit quiet on here lately with the clock ticking away we are down to 134 days away from the start of what we think will be one hell of a weekend...Advance bookings are already up on last year's in respect of exhibitors with loads of 'new' to the festival cars, trucks & bikes already booked in. Also three new clubs have requested display space for their members vehicles, each club fielding at least 20-25 members vehicles... This has prmpted us to re-think the layout of club display areas to enable us to fit all the different clubs into the main show areas. A formidable task to say the least, but one that we can sort out.. A large outside dance-floor will be sited to the left hand side of the main stage to accommodate the growing number of folks who want to get up and boogie to the bands... Lots more info coming up soon, look out for our great adverts appearing in most of the auto & music publications across the country....
